This piece combines the dark tones and textures of what it feels like right before you come back to life from a hard season. Those seasons that hit without warning, but can take you into an internal place. But this piece celebrates the spark, the moment you remember to open your eyes to what the world has around you.
 
I believe we all have many origin stories in our lives. I'm sure you can think of 3 right right now. You can respect the dark places you've been, and see how coming out of them has made you stronger.

The story of ORIGINATE: My artist self was reborn after I hurt my back in 2018. I had to learn to be with myself. I had to choose where I wanted to spend my very small amount of time without pain in a day. I remembered my love for making spontaneous art and began my studio practice. I didn't know what this piece was about until I sat with it for a long time. It was a part of me and of so many others I've talked with.

Traveling is a big part of how I bring variety and rarity to my work. The core elements in ORIGINATE are from a remote location near the Upper Peninsula. It's a place I go when taking time away from the studio to find fresh inspiration. I came home with a beautifully complex piece of fallen Sweet Cherry. Upon returning to the studio, I saw the Black Locus pods had started to fall on our property, and the vision for a tonally dark and subtle piece came together.

This piece combines the dark tones and textures of what it feels like right before you come back to life from a hard season. I believe we all have many origin stories in our lives. You can respect the dark places, and know coming out of it has made you stronger. 
 
Mug is a healthy 15oz. Trust me when I say it is the size you want when settling into a conversation over coffee or tea. It's big enough to hold pencils or brushes. 
Tote bags are double sided durable canvas. Come in 3 sizes that can cover you for groceries, quick trips out or beach days.
Pillows are super soft and art is printed edge to edge. Choose stuffed or unstuffed, zipper or no zipper. All machine washable. 
Stickers are great adds to gift wrapping, water bottles, laptops or anywhere you collect your stickers. I personally love them on my studio toolboxes and work tables.

The story of ORIGINATE: I took time away from the studio to visit the Upper Peninsula and find inspiration. I came home with this beautiful piece of fallen Sweet Cherry bark. Upon returning to the studio, I saw the Black Locus pods had started to fall on our property, and the vision for the piece came together. The Sweet Cherry bark has a natural wave to it from the way the tree it protected grew. And I love how the Black Locus pods mimic that same wave.
