Anger is complex and framed as a ‘bad' emotion.
And I get why, it’s shocking to experience it from others. It feels brutal. Primal. Unconsidered. But if used to shine a light on something that should be discussed, it opens up more truthful conversations.
Here’s what I mean:
There’s a lot of spaces where anger is policed. We’re conditioned to throttle this emotion. We begin not expressing what we really feel. And eventually we are filled with so much shame and resentment for all the undiscussed topics. We could get violent or rage filled.
But the thing is- anger is a raw response to a situation. It holds information. And if we approach it with curiosity instead of shutting it down, we’d get a lot further and be more connected.
This piece is a reminder that when anger shows up to see it as a beacon. It’s telling you something.
